Susan Riggs builds connections through music: within ourselves, with our neighbors, across communities and time. Susan leads community singing because she believes everyone’s voice is worth hearing. She knows that by singing together, we have the power to create something beautiful.
A graduate of the Community Choir Leadership Training in Victoria, B.C., Susan founded FEAST Community Choir in Portland, Oregon, in 2017. FEAST is a member of the Ubuntu Community Choirs Network which seeks to create a world in which we listen deeply to those around us, celebrate diversity, trust in our voices and bring them forward on behalf of harmony, justice and peace.
Sharing her delight in the language of music has been Susan’s life work. She is a graduate of Oberlin College, Leslie University and Longy School of Music. Susan has broad experience teaching early childhood music and movement classes, teaching piano to students ages 6 – 96, and coaching musicians in efficient and effective use of their bodies. Susan’s expertise in Dalcroze Eurhythmics and Body Mapping supports a lively kinesthetic approach to making music.
